Welcome to the Yin Water Rabbit Year 2023

Welcome to the Yin Water Rabbit Chinese New Year! The solar new year began on February 4th, and this year we will feel a gentle life promoting and creating energy from the main elements of water feeding wood ( the rabbit is the yin wood). This year is very yin, which is the feminine energies of allowing, receptivity, receiving, quiet, slow, restful, calm and nourishing. Last year was a Yang water tiger year, and so this year will have a much softer quality, and overall should be easier with this double yin quality. However, we can expect movement and action this year, so don’t expect it to be uneventful. The gentle and cautious nature of the rabbit is a welcome from the ambitious and at times arrogant and ferocious tiger. The energies we will feel both individually and collectively, and I’ll go into more of this deeper.

The rabbits are family-oriented and social; and they know how to take responsibility and form a network. With such strong wood energy this year, it will be important to remember there is strength in numbers especially against oppressive systems. Strong wood energy is also action, and it will be easier to follow through; and have expansion of our ambitions. When we remember to stay centered and use our boundaries, we can tap into our personal power and confidence to achieve our goals. The yin water energy is like dew or a light rain, but at times it can be like a cloud and can create a fog; so we could feel some confusion without creating a plan or having a grounding practice. However, if we stay alert like the rabbit, and prepare ourselves, we can get comfortable with uncertainty in the world and the changes that are happening. Be aware some people will be dominant in their thinking and stubborn, only wanting to do things their way. Rabbits along with strong wood energy can be stubborn, so be aware of this tendency in yourself and find ways to release the need to control what you can’t, and to stay in that yin flow and beginner’s mindset. Luckily, rabbits are cordial, discreet and diplomatic, as well as thoughtful and cautious. A rabbit will hold back until they know and trust, but once they know they’re safe, and have a reliable ally they will be of great support. Rabbits are intuitive and finding ways to tap into this more through practices such as breathwork yoga will benefit us.

Like the rabbit, yin water helps us to be humble, gentle, kind and to have appreciation for the arts and all things beautiful. Yin water is also like a lake and can be calm on the surface but deep. This year will be great for going into the psyche, to focus on shadow work and spirituality. The rabbit's feelings can go very deep too, so allow things to flow to examine; dig deep and create spaciousness for release as the triggers surface. You will then be able to uncover what is there, and can then rise above the ashes like the phoenix.

Last of all, the water element governs the kidneys and bladder and the emotion of fear. It will be important to do all you can to stay in love and out of fear, and to continue to gain this awareness when you are going into victimhood, the persecutor or rescuer. Our kidney energy represents our life force, so we will also want to take the most nourishing care of our vessel (mind, body, spirit and emotions), to sustain and increase our energy for us to be our best self. Overall, this would be a great year to find a deeper network, a coach, or some sort of support system in place. This will help you achieve your goals and to find the self-love to stay in love, while putting in place the self-discipline to create these new habits. As always, I’m here to be your guide as a midwife to your emotions, helping you break free from cycles of pain, to create a preventative wellness plan for you, assisting you in finding your gifts and authenticity, and to uplevel into your most abundant self;  bringing your dreams into your reality.

You’ve Got This!
